10 May : Thirds v Instonians

The thirds began their league campaign with a fine win away to Instonians. Laurelvale fielded a very young team including Oliver Lamont, Jack McClelland, Matthew Greer, Jordan Dane, Scott McConvilleStephen Hogg and Graham Burns together with the usual "veterans".

Instonians batted first on their new artificial pitch and scored 203 for which could have been a daunting prospect for the young Laurelvale team. Pick of the bowlers was young Oliver Lamont who bowled his five overs at a difficult time and took 2 for 13 to restrict Instonians final total. George Edgar took 3-43 in seven overs and Stephen Hogg 1 for 38.

In reply Laurelvale slipped to 16 for three but the experienced Denver Pearson produced a match winning innings of 84 not out as Laurelvale chased down their target of 204. Lee Vennard frinsihed on 69 not out.

All in all a very satisfactory start to the season.
